Y U SO SEX-AY?
Well, I suppose you could compare it to the reason why getting spooked by horror movies (as I wrote about last week) turns folks on: the physiological arousal is similar to that of sexual arousal (blood pumping/quickened breathing/adrenaline rushing, etc.). And, as we do after a fright, we seek some subsequent comforting from our partners (like, make-up sex).

Yeah I try to avoid quarrels. I am usually quite a pleasant person, but I am one of those people that actually become more clear-headed and slightly vicious the angrier I get. Although make-up sex can be fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite - anger makes me lose my mind, which is part of the reason I'd rather walk away and cool off, rather than flap my gums and say things which can never be unsaid.
DeleteI, too, dislike confrontation and believe in other avenues to stimulate the big-time passion! If I'm pissed, the last thing I want to do is have sex. But you are right. I know couples who thrive on the quarrel/makeup sex merry-go-round. And I'm happy for them, if that's what floats their boat!
ReplyDeleteI've known folks like that too, and I just don't get it.
DeleteSorry, I'm too angry for make up sex! :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, today, I'm even too tired to fight.
Have to go back and read the one on fright. Don't recall sex after fear, but maybe my mind is shot.
Love these posts!
Thanks, Lady - you're a doll!
DeleteWe don't quarrel so much... but let me tell you, if you want to get my husband going, simply talk politics. Doesn't matter if your on "his" side or not, just get a good debate going. Sometimes I start a conversation about something I know NOTHING about just to get him going.
ReplyDeleteSo. Much. Fun.
ROTFL! :-D
DeleteIt always amazes me that people can be yelling one minute and kissing the next. When hubby and I have a quarrel, I don't speak to him for hours. He won't speak to me for days unless I swallow my pride and talk first. Somehow, I always do ...
ReplyDeleteFun post! :-)
What's the longest he's held out???
DeleteI hate fighting too, but I will say we do end up having make up sex afterwards...
ReplyDeleteAt least there's some reward at the end of it all. ;-)
DeleteI can't help myself, I want to kiss his adams apple...LOL! Sorry, just been reading your links. If it's a quarrel with Ian Somerhalder then I'm all for it.
ReplyDeleteLOL!
DeleteMaybe it's the fear of almost losing that which is most important that makes us cling so tightly together afterwards.
ReplyDeleteMelanie, I believe that's quite likely part of it. :-)
DeleteNot much for fighting myself. I'll do it if backed into a corner but would rather not. Make-up sex can be fab. With me though if I'm pissed enough it will take a little while. Can't get all hot and bothered if I am feeling like slapping the shit out of someone...just saying. :)
ReplyDeleteFair point!
DeleteI'm with Juliette. :P
ReplyDeleteUh...I had to look up who that fella was, but, having been enlightened, am in full agreement. ;-)
DeleteSo, what happens if you dream about a knock-down, drag-out fight? Does he still get makeup sex?
ReplyDeleteNothing quite like heated make up sex. Even better is hot angry sex.
