Y U SO SEX-AY?
In part, it's one of those, "Well, it looks like girly-bits, so that's hawt!" kinda things (like it was with figs, a few letters back). Also, oysters are high in zinc, AND contain stuff which stimulates release of testosterone, which is good for fellas' abilities to...um. Well, you know.
Hey, man—I didn't make this shizz up, I'm just reporting it.

I've heard about oysters and their "super powers" and though I like to say I'm not a picky eater, raw oysters are one of those rare foods that I just cannot do. YUCK! It's the slimy-blob texture that I can't stomach, that and when I was 14 I tried a couple and ended up spending the entire night puking in the toilet. It. Was. Awful. :P
ReplyDeleteYuck, this is one I won't be trying!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love them! When I was growing up, every Friday night, my dad would bring home a bottle of oysters and would share them with me. I understand they are an acquired taste but I adore them!
ReplyDeletePlus, you've got the lovely memories of consuming them with your Dad, so I can understand how they'd hold a special place in your taste-buds. :-)
DeleteNot a fan either, besides having a shellfish allergy! Russell has to brush his teeth after he eats shellfish and before he kisses me!!! You wanna see big oysters, google 'Hood Canal Oysters'. Those are total chokers.
ReplyDeleteYowza, I know folks w/shellfish or nut allergies have to be super careful, but never thought about the harm in kissing with one who'd consumed them!
DeleteNever had oysters. Maybe we should try. O_o

Of course it's oysters today! I love, love your posts and recipes, Mina! I prefer raw to cooked. There's this great place on the beach in Mexico . . .
ReplyDeleteI've had mussles (and liked them) before but not oysters. Are they pretty much the same thing?
ReplyDeleteThey're in the same family? ::shrugs::
DeleteI love fried oysters! I can't cut them in two, though. Ugly!
ReplyDeleteYou have a super theme for the A to Z Challenge. I've got my notebook and a pen. I could be here for a while. :-)
My theme is confusing words. Not SEX-AY, unless you have a shoe fetish, maybe. Check out the letter E.

Never did care for oysters, either, until I had Oysters Rockefeller while visiting San Francisco. Mmmm. Still don't like'em on the half shell, though.
ReplyDeleteI tasted oysters once. It actually made me sad. No amount of hot sauce, lemon juice or pepper did anything to hide the texture (like swallowing really big snot), or the taste (like all the worst tasting raw fish bits you ever imagined). It made me feel as sexy as dogshit. It's one of the only foodstuffs that provoked an emotional reaction in me. another was Creme Brulee. First time I had that I became almost evangelical about vanilla custard with burnt sugar on top. It became the dessert course for my foolproof "we-have-only-been-dating-for-a-while, but-we-are-going-to-be-having-sex-after-this-meal-I-cook-for-you" menu. Never failed. Ever. It's a proud boast, but I make that sh!t work...
ReplyDeleteROTFL, Wayne! :-) And there's a reason why that shit never fails you, which will come up later on down the alphabet. :-)
DeleteOysters Ewww!!! They look like and have the consistency of phlegm. I will neer ever EVER put one in my mouth again. And I don't care how sexy they make a guy supposedly feel, if he's going to eat those in front of me, he's not getting any. Like Ever Again.
