So if y'all'd do me a solid, I'd love it if you answered my poll question over on the upper right-hand side of the page (and this time, you can select more than one option). And if you'd spread the word by pimping this post, I'll love you just that little bit more than I'd otherwise love you. (Just see the video below, iffin ye dinnae believe me.)

POLL ~ Preferred Days to Read Blogs?
So, like, it seems that Monday is, by far, the most heavily saturated blogging day of the week (which is to say, lots and lotsa folks'll post a blog on a Monday). I'm not bitching about it; I've been posting on Mondays (and Thursdays) since roughly June of this year. But I'm wondering if, perhaps, these ain't the best days of the week to post, and by "best days," I mean days in which the blogosphere isn't quite so bizzy and folks have a bit more head space to get around the joint and check stuff out, knowhatahmsayin?
So if y'all'd do me a solid, I'd love it if you answered my poll question over on the upper right-hand side of the page (and this time, you can select more than one option). And if you'd spread the word by pimping this post, I'll love you just that little bit more than I'd otherwise love you. (Just see the video below, iffin ye dinnae believe me.)

I'd love to participate in your poll but I can't. I'm just not that structured. I blogged once in all of 2010 yet I've blogged 5 times in single days.
ReplyDeleteFor me, it's about when I have something to say rather than on what days I say it.
Hey, Dude: what I'm asking is not when you like to write or post blogs, but when you like to read other bloggers' stuff. :-)
DeleteVoted. I actually do a little blog reading everyday. Though Friday's are a bit crazy for me.
ReplyDeleteI've tried to read a bit every day too, but I seem to loose track of the stuff I want to "go back to."
DeleteOh, for the love...I meant "lose," not loose. Daft twit, que je suis.
DeleteThis is interesting as it's something I have never really thought of (like most things). I try to catch up on blog reading regularly but often fail. There's also the staty thing that certainly tells me fewer people read my blog at weekends. The graph is mostly up but while I'm getting more readers I am getting fewer comments, not that I'm losing sooo much sleep about it :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's thing about Follower counts; sure, it's pretty groovy when the number goes up and up and up, but less so if they're not interacting by leaving comments, and whatnot.
DeleteVisiting from Elise's site. I stay on top of my blogging so I don't fall behind, and yes Mondays are the busiest. But I post that day for that very reason and I usually get the most comments on Monday.
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for visiting, Alex! You are a legendary reader of blogs, though - one might say a "Master." I dunno how you keep up with all the posts for IWSG! :-)
DeleteI think a lot of people tend to read and comment more on days they post (maybe to up their readership). So Monday might be saturated, but it might be a day that you get more visits. I think your blog is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point, Tonja. I've noticed I sometimes get comments from folks I haven't heard from in AGES when they've put up a new post. Also; I heart you so much!!!!! <3 <3 <3 :-D
DeleteBecause I have the luxury of not working, I can catch up any day of the week. But I do notice that my blog gets far less traffic on weekend posts than weekday posts. When I worked, I was able to read & post blogs from there and I didn't do it much on weekends either b/c I was cleaning and doing errands. I notice that sometimes my weekend blog posts don't start to get comments till the following week too.
ReplyDeleteJoJo, I've noticed something similar. I tend to get more comments for a Monday post on the day after than I do on Monday. But my Thursday posts do ok, I think, the same day they're posted.
DeleteI troll the blogoverse when I can. Lately it feels like its not enough. I wish I had a better answer. :(
ReplyDeleteLord, I'm feeling the same way, especially since my home Internet is still not sorted out. :-(
DeleteI took your poll and checked every box. I'm retired so I wander the blogosphere whenever the mood strikes. lol
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you, or anyone else, can keep a schedule for posting though. I just post when I finally think up something to write about, which sadly, isn't too often. :(
LOL, Lexa - that's pretty awesome that you can check 'em out daily!
DeleteI definitely can't post daily, like lotsa folks do; even twice a week can be tricky, since I do work full time. But I found that if I brain-stormed topics or themes and planned some stuff out in advance (like you do for Blogging A to Z, maybe), it helped me keep on schedule with blogging. (Though I'll admit; I haven't yet figured out how to keep up with writing as well, though I'm in that brainstorming phase again to see how to make it all happen.)
Catching up happens. Not in Vegas, though. That would mean it never happens.
ReplyDeleteHang on - I thought what happened there stayed there. Don't tell me Vegas has the power to *erase events from the space/time continuum*?!?!? O_o
DeleteI am not voting 'cause I don't really have a preference - pretty sure I check blogs at random, sometimes even daily, but there is no set pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'd love it if you voted anyway, though; even if you voted for every day. I'm trying to see if there are any trends, but maybe there aren't! :-)
DeleteI work mostly weekends, so Mondays are the biggest day for me, although I try to keep up with it daily (M-F). Since I post on Mondays and Wednesdays, Wed. afternoon through Thurs. is another peak time.
ReplyDelete*shrugs* I look at it differently than you. Since I like to pay return blog visits soon after the comments are posted, I'm going to be blog hopping on the days I post anyway. Why not reserve that time for blogging and spend my off-post days writing?
Same goes for IWSG. I try to reserve those days for mega blog hopping.
Hi, Melissa, thanks for popping in! Yeah, Monday does seem to be a big day for the Blogosphere, for lots of folks.
DeleteWhat you wrote about blogging on days you post and spending off-post days writing is actually what I'm trying to do, too; I'm trying to figure out a way to build a schedule for myself, so I can balance my full-time gig with blogging AND writing (which has, I'm sad to say, taken a real hit since I've been blogging/blog reading, you know?). So maybe we're thinking more similarly than not. :-)
I visit randomly. If I get stuck while writing, I'll read a couple; or I'll have a spare moment not long enough to write, and read a few. So, sorry, I haven't voted because I'm likely to tick all of them, which is pretty useless in terms of statistical analysis :-)
ReplyDeleteActually, Annalisa, I think that even if you cast a vote for every day of the week, that would be worthwhile for my purposes. As I commented above, I'm looking for trends but, apart from Mondays being huge for bloggers, there may not be any! :-)
DeleteVoted as requested, Mina :-)
DeleteYay, thank you! :-)
DeleteI would think most folks write their blogs on the weekend so Monday wins. I try to post Monday, Wednesday, Friday and write them all on the weekend, or at least plan them out then. Weekends are the best for me to get caught up with the reading, but sometimes I do it when there's a TV show on. I hate just watching TV it's such a waste of time. Of course, most of the time I get involved in what I'm reading and lose the TV story.
ReplyDeleteGreat question! Be sure and post your findings.
Thanks for visiting my blog -- it's appreciated!
Thank you and you're welcome! I hope lots more folks vote as well, so I can get a broad spectrum represented here.
DeleteI voted in the poll but I think this is a great subject. I'm curious to know this myself. I generally catch up on the weekends, although I keep up during the week as much as I can.
ReplyDeleteThanks for voting! Spread the word; mo' votes is mo' bettah! :-D
DeleteI blog & do catch up on Tuesday. It is when I have noticed the most traffic on my blog which also happens to correlate with when there are the fewest amount of people with the need for my attention.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've found Tuesdays to be good days for my blog, too. That's pretty dandy, that your schedule seems to work out that way. :-)
DeleteI honestly can't say. I try to visit blogs every day, because I have too many people to visit for me to just do it say once or twice a week.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I don't always have the time. :-/
GAH, ME EITHER! I am so behind on reading folks' blogs, I feel just awful. :-(
DeleteI voted in your poll a while back. I'm on mat leave right now, so I visit a few blogs every day. When I'm working I read much more on the weekends and I've always found it odd that the blog world is quieter then. Am I the only one with a full-time job that takes up most of the hours in the day during the week?
ReplyDeleteI also read more on the days I post. Partly because if someone comes to visit after I've said something to them, I like there to be something relatively current for them to read, rather than my old coffee grounds from whenever :)that they may have already seen.
I'm always behind on my reading *sigh*. I think it's because I generally comment where I read, and I'm long-winded (ahem, as in right now) so I don't get through a lot of blogs in a sitting. And I have a loooong reading list, because there are so many great people out there.
I generally try to read people who've commented on my blog first, but if it's only one comment (as opposed to a "regular") I sometimes lose track of them. Then I find them months later and feel really bad that I haven't visited them. Ugh.
I'm surprised by the quiet weekends in the blogosphere, too (I'm likewise a full-timer during the week). And yet, I do see folks catch up on reading on Sundays...I have the same problem you mention about long reading list but not always being able to keep up. Gah.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new bébé!
